The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) provides mass transit service in 37 of the 39 cities and towns within the State of Rhode Island. A 9-member Board of Directors governs the Authority. RIPTA's present fleet of vehicles contains 220 fixed-route buses, 96 paratransit vans, and 20 flex vans. RIPTA's main transit center is in Downtown Providence, with satellite hubs in Newport, Warwick, and the new Pawtucket-Central Falls Transit Center. In FY 2024, RIPTA provided approximately 8,828,247 million fixed-route vehicle miles annually in Rhode Island. RIPTA, the State's Mobility Manager, operates over 2,700 daily bus trips on over 58 bus routes throughout the state. In FY 2024, RIPTA provided over 13,097,025 million passenger rides. |
