The Office of the Postsecondary Commissioner, which operates under the direction of the Commissioner of Postsecondary Education, is the administrative and research arm of the Rhode Island Council on Postsecondary Education, and is the system office for Rhode Island College (RIC), Community College of Rhode Island (CCRI), Westerly Education Center, RI Nursing Education Center, proprietary postsecondary schools and a new education and workforce center to be located in Woonsocket.
Responsibilities
The mission of the Office of the Postsecondary Commissioner (OPC) is to support the work of the Board of Education and the Council on Postsecondary Education in providing an excellent, accessible and affordable public system of higher education designed to improve the overall educational attainment of the citizens of Rhode Island, support economic development, and enrich the civic, social and cultural life of all living in the state of Rhode Island.
