Through the Business Services Division, the Department of State
maintains filings for active and inactive for-profit and non-
profit corporations, limited partnerships, and limited liability
companies. The Business Assistant makes it easier to start or
grow a business by creating a custom-tailored road map of
relevant permits, applications, and other government services.
Business Services also administers the Uniform Commercial
Code Program and registers Notaries, Trademarks, and Games
of Chance. The Elections Division maintains the State’s voter
registration database and publishes guides for running for
office and voting. The Civic Education Division connects
teachers, students, and the community with the Department
of State and its resources. The State Archives is responsible for
comprehensive archives and records management services
for all Rhode Island public records, including all State rules
and regulations. The State Archives also preserves historic
documents and records. The Rhode Island State Library
provides reference and research services in the areas of law,
legislation, government reports, and Rhode Island history.
The Public Information Division registers and tracks lobbying
activity and regulations within Rhode Island State government,
and it registers and publishes upcoming and past meetings of
all State and local government entities, including boards and
commissions. |
